“After years of working out 5 days a week for 2hrs/day(3 of those days being strength training & cardio and the other 2 days being straight cardio the whole time), I felt like I was going backward. 
As I added on more cardio time, I slowly started gaining weight each year. Naturally, I thought I just needed to keep adding more cardio/running. Little did I know, the more cardio I did, the more my body got used to it and the more I would need to keep doing as time went on. The thought of that didn’t excite me so I decided it was time for a change. Looking to lose 10lbs and gain more muscle,  I was introduced to Dani in May 2014. 
After our initial meeting, she started helping me with my nutrition and taught me how to balance my carbs, protein and fats each day. While I already ate healthy, I wasn’t eating enough protein and my carbs and fats weren’t balanced. We solely did nutrition for a month and I saw results during that month. It was exciting and encouraging!
After a month, I added in weight lifting with Dani twice a week for an hour and doing cardio for only 20-30 minutes once a week. All of this went against everything I had always thought, but it truly works! I continued to lose weight/inches/body fat and actually gain muscle! My body was transforming before my eyes. I was finally achieving goals I had always wanted to achieve.

Working out and eating“clean” have been a part of my life for years. However, in my current job, I travel about 36 weeks a year – which results in a lot of hotel living, eating out and four gym memberships in different states and countries. I started with Dani in August 2017, after finally admitting that my current workout routine and diet just weren’t compatible with my lifestyle and needing help finding balance.
 
Dani started me on a reverse diet(What? Eat MORE calories?), which I am finishing in the next few weeks, and then we will start a“cut.” Her approach, her advice and her knowledge have literally been life-changing for me. I no longer“fear” carbohydrates, I no longer have a list of“good and bad foods” – the latter of which was much longer that then former – and I have learned how to balance a healthy – but not perfect – diet and still enjoy things I love.
 
But accepting“life” hasn’t meant I’ve stopped challenging myself – physically or mentally. I’ve grown stronger in the gym, am loving my workouts and can’t wait to see the improvements I’ve made as we start my first“cut.” I’ve had to let go of very long-held beliefs regarding“clean” eating, calorie-counting and the number on the scale. I’ve learned“being consistent 80% of the time is far better than being perfect 50% of the time” – a message I still have to reinforce to myself.
 
Dani is tremendously knowledgeable and encouraging, she delivers“tough love” when called for, and she holds you accountable for your progress. She also shares her struggles and successes – which I appreciate – she doesn’t try and appear to be the“rock solid, always perfect bodybuilding competitor.”

I started training with Dani a year ago. I had a strong practice in yoga and acro yoga, and while I was very happy with my balance and flexibility, there were advanced skills that I just wasn’t strong enough to do. I signed up for Dani’s Women in the Weight Room group to build strength, and that’s all. I gained much more than strength. I gained confidence; I’m not intimidated by equipment in the gym now because Dani has walked me through how to safely use everything I need. I gained friendships with other women. I am so grateful to be in this group of motivated women who cheer for and support each other; it’s really true that we accomplish more together than alone. We lift, we laugh, we get fierce! It is hard work, but Dani knows what she’s doing, and I am so happy with the results. I gained control over my weight. I learned from following Dani’s nutrition instructions how to not live at the mercy of the food I eat.  I gained control over my size and shape, and with smart planning, I can eat gummy worms and rice krispies treats and lose weight! I keep getting stronger, mentally and physically. Most importantly, I continue to redefine what I’m capable of accomplishing. I have much more confidence, and not just in my physical shape, but that I can meet the challenges in my life the way I meet the challenge of adding more weight to the bar, with determination and tenacity, knowing someone is there to spot me when I struggle. I don’t say to myself,“oh, you can’t do that,” or think that I missed my window to try something new because I’m in my 40’s. I can do it. I am doing it. Moving through my mid 40s, I could not understand why all the things I had tried before regarding weight management and fitness weren’t working for me. I was eating“clean” healthy food, consuming very few calories, and fasting at times. I was doing cardio and yoga and nothing was changing. I was feeling lethargic and frustrated. I was loosing muscle definition and did not feel fit. My clothes weren’t fitting, and I was experiencing a lack of confidence. A friend had posted Dani’s information on Facebook, and I thought working with her might be a step in the right direction. 
At first, I just started lifting weights, and I really enjoyed that and experienced some success with muscle tone. Once I started working with Dani to understand macros and how to use cardio and HIIT strategically, my life started to change in ways I was not expecting. I had never worked with a coach to manage my nutrition as well as my fitness. The methods that Dani uses have revolutionized my relationship with food, weight loss, and fitness. My work with her is slow and steady. What I recognize is that I am reevaluating my lifestyle, and I am learning sustainable and healthy ways to live my life. I didn’t even know I needed to reevaluate these things. Dani is so professional and encouraging in her approach. When I submit my weekly updates to her, I always look forward to her supportive and thoughtful instructions for the next week. She has helped me reflect on my process and establish specific, actionable goals while also keeping me accountable. I am grateful that she tailors her feedback to me as an individual. She understands my profile, my personality, and my needs. Nothing is one-size fits all. In addition, I have come to really enjoy and admire the other women I get to work out with every week. Dani does such a good job brining us together as a group. We really support each other in the weight room. When I am with them, I feel like there is nothing I can’t do. Dani is equal parts task master and fun-loving. She models a balanced life filled with hard work, love, and fun! She openly and honestly shares her own challenges and honors the work others are doing in their lives. 
I wanted to quit before I started, and I thought about quitting every time I added a new aspect to my training. I have never been this focused, organized, and intentional with my health and fitness goals. I am learning so much about myself while also changing the way I look and feel. I was told by a healthcare professional, not very long ago, that someone my age should not worry about being able to see muscle tone / definition. That my weight was reasonable for my age and the medical challenges I have(PCOS and endometriosis, among other things). I know for a fact, because of the results I am seeing, that I can have realistic goals and achieve them. I am so pleased with my progress. I am seeing the muscle tone I desire, I am learning that the number on the scale does not tell the whole story about the way I look and feel, and that I can understand and manage flexible dieting that allows me to live fully and freely. I don’t have to be afraid of eating certain foods or be concerned if I want to have a special meal or things that I really enjoy.  I am living a full and vibrant life, and I am looking and feeling better all the time!

I’ve consistently worked out over the last 10 years by lifting weights and doing cardio, including running two half marathons in the last two years, but I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted for myself that I was working so hard for…so I decided to contact Dani.  I’m so glad I did because the guidance Dani has given me around food, macros and changes to my workouts have been a life changer. 
Being strong mentally and physically is important to me, for multiple reasons. I am a happier person when I feel my best. Before I starting working with Dani it had been probably 10 years since I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I had the mindset that carbs were bad, they were all that was evil related to weight loss.
I, like most women, was on a very restrictive diet.
When I first started with Dani I was only consuming roughly 1100 calories per day and working out 5-6 times per week with cardio on most of those days, plus weights…And because I was so restrictive, I had caused my metabolism to come to a halt causing very little weight loss. The mind game I was playing with myself and the depression would make it so that when I fell off the wagon – it was look out Blue Bell and Oreo’s galore….then I would be depressed, hate myself and start the whole punishment cycle all over again.
It took Dani 6 months to raise my carbs to a healthy level – which was anything but easy for me at first, being told to eat MORE carbs….WHAT??? But slowly I started to see that the way I was eating was not balanced or healthy and that provided it fit my macros, even doughnuts were okay, you just have to plan and be smart about the choices the rest of the day.
Planning ahead, giving yourself permission to enjoy life, including food, and most of all to be kind and patient with yourself, are the effective tools Dani taught me. These tools have changed my life in ways that I could never thank her enough for. She changed the way I look at food and myself. It has been quite a journey learning to love myself no matter what the scale says and knowing that I have the power over food and that it does not have the power over me.

“6 years ago I weighed my heaviest at 215, I decided I was ready to commit and lose weight. Through other programs for nutrition, a lot of cardio and some strength training machines I lost 45 pounds over a year. After I was able to maintain or fluctuate between 5-10 pounds never able to make it past 170.
My consistency was not where it needed to be. I knew Dani from high school and saw her success and started reading her blog. I had previously only used machines at the college recreation center and maybe Dumbbells and kettle bells. I wanted to lose weight and body fat but also get stronger. “I started working with Dani over a year and a half ago. I had been doing another workout consistently for 5 years, was eating“clean” good and while it worked for me for a while I had hit a plateau and started slowly gaining weight. I added more workouts in to try and counter it, and while it would work momentarily, if I would deviate from my diet any bit, I’d balloon out and immediately gain 5 lbs. It was a constant roller coaster. I started working with Dani averaging about 1,300 calories a day doing mostly cardio 3-4 x’s a week. Dani slowly started adding carbs and fat into my daily diet and before long I was up to over 2,000 calories a day, down 10 lbs and looking at food in a completely different way. I do minimal cardio and mostly weights now. I am stronger today than I have ever been, eating more than I ever thought was possible in order to be“lean” but most of all, my relationship with food is completely different. I don’t look at specific foods as“good” or“bad” but as options. I know that I need carbs and fat in order to grow muscle and be healthy. My nutrition is like a check book, I know what I need and if there are things I“want” I make sure it all balances out. Throughout the years, I was always able toget by” physically. I’d put on a few pounds and limit my calories, do some more cardio for a while and it would be ok.
I thought I had my health and fitness under control with healthy eating along with a strict exercise diet of cardio on the elliptical 4-5 days a week. I was skinny fat with very little muscle.
The years and this routine caught up to me.   One year ago, I was the heaviest and the most out-of shape I’ve ever been. I signed up for Dani’s bootcamp, thinking it would be easy to bounce back to my former self or just become a better me. Soon after I realized I needed more help. 
Dani started working with me on my nutrition and introduced strength training to my fitness plan. I had very little experience with lifting weights. She helped me learn and build confidence in lifting weights as I was always intimidated by them.
