These days it seems like everyone just wants a quick fix in terms of weight loss.

If you know me at all, you know I don’t recommend any sort of fad diet or quick fix.

Rather you realize it or not, low carb diets are one of those quick fixes.

If you’re eating 200+ carbs a day and you decide to try and cut out as many carbs as possible, yes, you will likely loose a good amount of weight…at first.

The problem you have to think about is what’s going to happen as soon as you get off of that low carb diet?

Your body has gone into starvation mode therefor it’s going to hold on to every bit of carb that you do feed it and will refuse to let it go because it doesn’t want to be starved again.

Oh you planned on eating minimal carbs your for the rest of your life?
Yeah. Right. 

That’s why you see so many people lose 15 pounds but almost immediately put back on 20 pounds. Ever lost weight for a vacation only to gain it all back and then some? Not fun is it?

You body needs carbohydrates because they’re the main full source for the body and are used for short-term energy sources. They also control your metabolism so they are essential in the process of increasing your metabolic rate, restoring lost glycogen, and increasing your overall strength.

Carbohydrates are important to maintain proper function of the central nervous system, kidneys, the brain, and muscles.

By cutting out as many carbs as possible, you’re really risking your long-term metabolic health….which basically means you’ll have a harder time loosing weight every single time you try.

Ever dieted 1 time and never needed to again? Didn’t think so.

The fact is the weight was not put on overnight therefor it’s not going to come off overnight.

If you’re wanting to loose a few of those holiday pounds, do yourself a huge favor and don’t completely cut out your carbs.

Instead, do things like back off on the alcohol consumption, get yourself into a gym, eat multiple balanced meals throughout the day, and have slower digesting carbs versus the sugary kinds thats digest too quickly for your body to do anything with.

You will save yourself a lot of mental and physical trouble.
